Learning!!
Do we ever stop doing it?
I am about to complete a year at my job place and I still find it very exciting to be here. There is work (which is appreciated), there are celebrations, there are functions and recently there was a chess tournament too!!
Well, my mom had enrolled me for chess coaching when I was in fifth grade. And yes, I have entered into the semifinal of chess tournament now. A friend happened to ask me what I will get if I emerge out as a winner. And I simply answered with two things. 1. Trophy 2. Recognition. I think the later part is very important to me. I have been here for 10 months now, and I dint know as much people as we progressed through the tournament. And they recognize me too ;-)
It was the time for my 11th Grade admission. With clear hatred for biology subjects, I opted for electronics. I learnt and I practiced basics of electronics for two years. After developing my love for this subject, I had planned to pursue engineering degree in the same field. But unfortunately (or fortunately I don’t know), because of low score in CET I eventually graduated as a BE in Polymer Engineering (why this field: it runs like this – carpenter ka beta carpenter hi banta hai ;-) But today while working in the field of polymers, my knowledge from electronics dint go waste. I contributed to a project which brought insight on the particular process and the work was appreciated by my boss as important progress (almost a building block) in the project.
While we were in school, we had geometry as a part of our coursework. Although my favourite subject then, I used to question myself: “arrey ye sab kab use main ayega??” Well, let me tell you, this knowledge of mine also contributed in conjunction with the above mentioned effort for the said project.
While I was a kid, my mother used to lead me with examples. She used to tell that I should study such a way theat even if she dies one day; I should be able to score in a test scheduled next day (i.e. w/o studying). You will be amazed to know that I was selected after a job interview that a scheduled the next day of my father was hospitalized (of course for a minor surgery).
And there are a lot of other incidences to mention. But I guess I have already conveyed the point. You learn as and when possible. Following is a dialogue that come from a famous bollywood movie ‘3 Idiots’:- “gyan toh chaaro oar batt raha hai, jaha se mile lapet lo” Sounds so true!
P.S. And there are people who don’t learn at all !!
